Classic Hummus

  • 1 15.5 oz can of chickpeas/garbanzo beans
  • 1 clove of garlic (use less or none, depending on your preferences)
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Few cracks of black pepper
  • Few sprinkles of paprika
  • Few sprinkles of cumin
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons water

Kitchen Tools
• Food processor
• Blender should also work!

  1. Peel the garlic and pulse in the food processor until finely minced (can also do this by hand)
  2. Drain the chickpeas into a strainer & rinse with cool water until foam rinses away
    Before processing:
  3. Add chickpeas to processor
  4. Add lemon juice
  5. Add salt, pepper & paprika
To begin processing, pulse a few times then leave running
  6. Stream in olive oil until smooth. If too thick, add in a few sprinkles of water
  7. Taste & season with more salt if needed
  8. Enjoy!

Note: if the hummus seems thick, add a tablespoon at a time of water

If you’re feeling fancy:
Transfer to a bowl, smooth out, add a drizzle of olive oil on top
